Now the heart chakra, anahata chakra, the middle of the chest, is really the center of the aura. So, it’s not limited to what we understand by a physical light but still it is the center of the, at least the physical light of the aura. You’ll experience it as a kind of gold like the sun. And so the gold of the sun, it’s even more vivid than the orange of the clouds but it’s overwhelming that it’s really very difficult to imagine it. It’s a challenge for our imagination to imagine it by looking into the sun in all it’s power which is one of the practices of the yogis and also the sufis.

So I find for practical purposes, what I do myself is imagining the color orange, well actually I try to recall an event that took place in my life at the Lac Blanc above Chamonix. There was a terrible storm the whole night and in the morning, about four in the morning, the clouds started gathering and the colors of the clouds were just absolutely incredible and I sat there in ecstasy watching these moving colors of clouds as they were unfurling. And then the sun coming out through them and in the middle of this ray of colors and what struck me particularly was exactly the orange giving way to the gold. And so you can toggle between these, and I suppose at this stage you could just, as you exhale concentrate on the solar plexus and as you inhale, the heart center. Those two colors. And do not just confine yourself to the chakra but imagine the sun’s rays reaching right out and your aura right out into outer space. Your aura is, the outreach of your aura is unlimited.

(pause)

So what we’re doing is awakening dormant faculties, as Pir-o-Murshid says, in this case, we are awakening the chakras. And that means the effect of the chakras upon, not only upon our body, but upon our whole psyche and all the levels of our being. It’s a very positive energy, the heart center. It is ya rahman, it is magnanimous. It is giving love, whereas the solar plexus is ya rahim which is compassion. But this is having room in one’s heart for all people as far as one can.

And remember the words of al Hallaj when he said, “The sun has risen above the horizon of my being and there will be no sunset.” And Pir-o-Murshid says, “You become like a radiant star.”

(pause)

Remember that matter is intelligent, the cells of the body are intelligent. And we are awakening that intelligence by the intelligence of our soul. That intelligence is latent and we can awaken it so that awakening involves the whole body and, as a matter of fact, the whole physical universe is awakening, every atom as Pir-o-Murshid says, is awaking, is waiting for the time of awakening. Just like an alarm clock that is set for a certain time.
