Message from the Editors Dear Friends, Our beloved friend and teacher Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan passed away in his home in Suresnes, France on June 17, 2004. Though we miss his earthly presence greatly, his work and teaching live on in the hearts, minds and deeds of those he inspired. As his son and spiritual successor, Pir Zia Inayat Khan, wrote to Pir Vilayat’s students just after his passing: But even as we mourn the loss of his physical presence, may we find the inner clarity and strength to remember the essence of his teaching: the soul is immortal and its very being is joy. It is death that dies; life lives forever. The signature of our beloved Pir’s inimitable spirit is inscribed in the starry sky. For the present we will maintain the Universel.net website as a resource of Pir Vilayat’s teaching and in the near future hope to publish some of his writings posthumously.
